From a background in Paediatrics Medicine, I have embarked on a career change. This new career direction aligns my skills with the interests and aptitudes that I am currently developing through education, employment and various voluntary sector roles. My previous work experiences abroad for almost 15 years in the role of a Healthcare professional as part of multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver both acute and long term care, in hospital and community-based settings have developed my capacity to multi-task and manage competing priorities within research and training activities and planning and development and delivery of services. The diverse roles I have pursued in my career in different geographical and cultural domains have helped me develop excellent communication skills and effective cross- cultural competency skills.

Research

1. PhD project: Co-designing a behaviour change/ training intervention to support health visitors' implementation of guidelines to prevent early childhood obesity

2. Current research: I work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the NIHR Policy Research Unit (PRU) in Behavioural Science, contributing to a range of research projects.

The Unit is a collaboration between Newcastle University, University College London, University of Warwick, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The Unit has a collaborating network of experts in public health and public and patient involvement (PPI).

The aim of the PRU is to inform government policy on health, preventing ill-health and health systems. We use behavioural science evidence, theory and methods to support decision-making.

Teaching

I have experience in both formal and informal teaching in my previous professional career, as a clinician.
